2017-2018 SKI SEASON
The Wausau Nordic Ski Club is volunteer driven. There are opportunities to lend a hand in many different ways including trail maintenance, event assistance, or providing lessons. Those are just a few examples. If you look through the WNSC website, you’ll see a host of programs and events that your help is always appreciated. To find out about upcoming activities, you can go direct to our Volunteer Sign-up page to see what we have going and what kind of help is needed.
The Snekkevik is one of Wisconsin’s oldest ski races having been run since the 1970’s. The event features a number of events for both adults and youth skiers. This year’s event is being run on January 13 with the first race going off at 9:30 AM and most activities wrapped up by early afternoon. Check the link below for specific opportunities to help out.
The Wausau Nordic Ski Club, in cooperation with Marathon Country, provides free ski lessons to adults on Tuesday evenings in January. This year, the first night is January 9. Lessons are provided by members who take out groups of 5-8 individuals, usually with more then one instructor. Both techniques, skate and classic, are taught. When signing up as an instructor, please indicate if you can do skate, classic or either technique. The County waives the trail pass and rental fees for those getting lessons. You can sign-up for all nights or just the ones you can make it. Additional support is needed for registering skiers and handing out equipment.
