If you are new to skiing or even have some experience, but want some lessons, plan on joining us on Mondays starting on January 13 for our Middle School Learn-to-Ski Program. As the name implies, it is open to those currently in Middle School. It does not matter what Middle School you attend. Lessons will start at 3:45 pm on Mondays and meet at the Nine Mile Chalet. The program is less formal the our Night Gliders program that is a season-long program and is more involved in terms of equipment, duration and scope of training. Someone who would participate in the Learn-to-Ski could look to join Night Gliders the following season if still in Middle School.
Dates and Times: There will be four weeks of lessons, on Monday’s January 10, 27 and Feb 3 and 10. Start time is 3:45 PM. Get there a little early for equipment, if needed. Lessons will run to approximately 5:00 PM.
Equipment: If you own your own equipment, feel free to bring it with you. If you do not have equipment, we will provide that for you.
Clothing: You do not need high-end technical wear, but you should dress appropriately for an outdoor winter activity. Besides a jacket, you must have gloves, stocking hat, and warm socks. Long underwear, tops and bottoms are nice to have. Plan to be out for about 60-90 minutes
Weather Conditions: We will monitor weather conditions and if it is too cold or other factors make it so that it is neither safe nor fun, we will cancel for the day. Please monitor our Facebook page for the latest announcements. Make sure to “like” our page on Facebook by typing @WausauNordic in the search bar on your Facebook page and press enter.
Cost: There is no cost for the program instruction or equipment rental. We’d hope that your family will become a club member if you continue to ski.
Instructors: Experienced club members provide the instruction and normally provide 2-3 instructors per small group.
